Travel nursing salutes America’s birthplace
Philadelphia, one of America’s oldest and most historically significant cities was dubbed by Quaker, William Penn (1644-1718) in 1681 as the City of Brotherly Love. It is home to Independence Hall where the U.S. Constitution was drafted and signed, and where hangs The Liberty Bell, adopted by abolitionists as a symbol of freedom and the end to slavery. Now the fifth most populous city in the U.S., Philadelphia was once the nation’s capitol from 1790 to 1800.
Travel nursing opportunities in and around Philadelphia have never been better with travel nurse jobs and physical therapist jobs plentiful and high-paying. The city’s recent focus on parks and recreation is revitalized with “GreenPlan Philadelphia” and its downtown area is full of great restaurants, museums, art galleries, and entertainment venues. |

Sports fans love the 76ers and the Eagles, and most greasy spoon fanatics are intimate with the legendary Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. Other gastronomic inventions created by city dwellers include the hoagie, soft pretzels, and ‘scrapple’ made famous by the Pennsylvania Dutch. Big city travel nursing is at home here, as a hot cup of coffee, hearty sandwiches, and thin-slice pizza can be found on both sides of the street day or night.
The people of Philadelphia are friendly and warm and their ancestry romantic and brave. Travel nurses can find horse-drawn carriages at the “76 Carriage Company” at 1350 Schuylkill Avenue—and in Germantown, re-enactments of the only military battle fought within city limits during the civil war.
William Penn envisioned a place of peace. The name “Philadelphia” loosely translates to “brotherly love” in Greek and the city named this by Penn as a tribute to his principals of freedom and tolerance amid a tumultuous time in American history. Today, the city is full of RN and PT opportunities for travel nursing and continues to carry on the great tradition of its forefather, William Penn.
…and no, it’s not the state capital of Pennsylvania. That would be Harrisburg.
