Traveling together on her first assignment Travel Nurse Lydia Landis
finds “semi-retirement” in travel nursing
Even
after my husband and I retired to
San Carlos Panama, I wanted to
maintain my level of competency and
keep my nursing skills current. I
knew travel nursing was an option,
but I wasn't sure who to talk to
first. Soon after experts at 50 States Staffing told me they would provide my
husband and I with free private
housing and free health insurance
benefits while we traveled, I
completed an online application and
got my first travel nurse job
stress-free and easy as a
Mother-Baby Nurse in sunny Florida.
I couldn’t be happier! 50
States Staffing allows us to
travel together as a couple, and
gives me the opportunity to choose
from assignments best suited to my
“semi-retired” travel nursing
lifestyle. We’re already deciding
where to go on my next assignment.
Thanks 50 States Staffing !

Making the right choice at the grocer is oftentimes easier said than done. Price and value influence purchases as does advertising and personal preferences. But in a day and age when sound mind and body is paramount to travel nursing performance and health, and caring for our environment crucial to sustaining the agricultural well-being of the earth, there are many informed choices travel nurses can make while shopping for food and amenities that enable better living today and in the future.
In addition to great travel nursing benefits at 50 States Staffing, you’ll find a corporate staff that cares deeply for your professional well-being, and who encourages you to enjoy years of vitality and personal fulfillment.
Organic produce is more expensive but it’s worth it – The Organic Trade Association reported findings that organically produced fruits and vegetables have significantly higher levels of antioxidants and nutrients and lower mycotoxin levels than conventional counterparts. Early studies indicate that a diet rich in organic food contributes to better sleep, a stronger immune system, and a lower propensity for obesity—all things important to travel nursing
Recycled paper products are just as strong, soft, and absorbent – Uncolored and unscented paper towels and toilet tissue that are recycled and whitened without the use of chlorine-based chemicals are typically hypo-allergenic and beneficial to a travel nurses’ well-being. Many are manufactured in a way that uses less water and energy than non-recycled products, further reducing the impact on environment. Paper plates and plastic utensils are also a travel nursing favorite as they too are recyclable items and reduce packing needs between assignments.
Travel nursing professionals consider reusable bags at checkout – Although currently a heated debate among environmentalists, shoppers, and the grocery industry as to whether plastic is better than paper or vice versa, one thing remains true—they’re both recyclable and reusable. However, many shoppers have opted to purchase canvas sacks that can be used for years on end and that significantly reduce the burden on landfills and recycling plants.
50 States Staffing promotes eco-friendly assignments and encourages travel nurses and the industry to help the environment in any way they can. Here at corporate, web-based technologies not only streamline operations and fast-track documentation for the travel nurse, they enable us to save significant natural resources through the reduction of paper use, the elimination of document waste, and the conservation of energy. |

Some may remember the Indian with the tear in his eye as 1970s motorists tossed garbage onto the roadside in a televised public service announcement that spawned tough littering laws across the nation. As part of the 50 States Staffing “I Love Travel Nursing” campaign, 50 States is calling on all traveling nurses to do whatever they can to preserve the nation’s clean air and clean water currently being jeopardized by toxic fumes, hydrocarbons, and waste.
Attempt to avoid the one person one car scenario – Most travel nurse accommodations are located proximate to assignment. Get to know the people you work with on shift and attempt to car pool if at all possible. Car pooling is a great way to get to know fellow workers and find partners to adventure with around town. Otherwise, attempt public transportation and bring along a book, read the newspaper, or study new techniques on the way to work. Look at waiting for the bus not as a chore or inconvenient, but as your contribution toward a brighter, healthier tomorrow.
Water is the Earth’s most precious resource – In as much as the major sources of water pollution are municipal, industrial and agricultural, traveling nurses are encouraged to purchase products and services from companies that manufacture and distribute their goods in an eco-friendly manner. Buy from local farms that grow organic produce and raise livestock free of antibiotics and growth hormones. Make your next car purchase a hybrid and reduce our dependence on petroleum and the oil spills that plague American coastal waters every year. Look for labels on clothing that refer to “green,” “organic,” “fair-trade,” or “renewable and sustainable.” These are apparel companies that put environment first.
50 States Staffing is an eco-friendly travel nurse company focused on lifestyle, career, and travel nurse health. It is our firm belief that we can achieve great things as an industry through the cumulative efforts of the whole.
